Oil on panel

The drawing.
The initial step in beginning a portrait is to carefully study the subject on paper. The photographic image is then transferred onto the sheet using a dense grid, which helps to maintain precision in capturing all the details.
The sketch.
After transferring the drawing onto the canvas, the figure is outlined in burnt sienna, focusing on defining the volumes and contrasts of light and dark. This initial step serves as a strong base from which to layer the oil paints in subsequent stages of the painting process.
The first application of color.
Once the initial draft of the colors has been completed, the painting enters an intermediate phase. During this stage, the image is still in a rough sketch phase and lacks details, but the tones and colors are already visible.
The layering of color.
After the initial layer has dried, additional layers of paint help to enhance the details, deepen the shadows, and enhance the highlights as needed, gradually refining the figure until it is fully completed.
